UNIUYO Pre-Degree Admission: The school administration has issued the UNIUYO pre-degree programme admission form for the 2022/2023 academic session. Students that are interested are encouraged to apply. The Pro-Chancellor, Chairman of Council, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Igali approved the nomination during the Council's Special Meeting on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The Council selected 20 applicants for an interview from the 27 male and two female candidates who applied for the position at the start of the process. There were 19 candidates interviewed, with one of the selected candidates not showing up. Following the interview, the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board nominated three candidates for appointment, following the process's current norms. NMA Blames Abia State Government for ABSU Medical School Losing NUC Accreditation.

                         The Abia State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, has expressed regret at the loss of accreditation for Medicine at Abia State University, Uturu. The Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) revoked the accreditation due to deficiencies discovered by the university's governing authority. ASUP will go on strike for two weeks.

                                        The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has declared the start of a two-week warning strike, which will begin on Monday, May 16th, 2022. This was said in a statement made on Wednesday, May 11th, following an emergency meeting of the Union's National Executive Council. According to the release, the federal government has failed to satisfy the union's demand, and the two-week warning action is intended to compel the government to act, failing which an indefinite shutdown of polytechnics is likely.

The strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has been extended for another 12 weeks. This was to allow the government ample time to fully settle all remaining concerns, according to a statement issued by ASUU president Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke. It further indicated that the strike will begin at 12:01 a.m. on May 9, 2021. ASUU claimed it decided during its National Executive Council meeting on Sunday night at the University of Abuja's Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat. "After extensive deliberations, noting the Government's failure to live up to its responsibilities and promptly address all issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA) within the additional eight-week roll–over strike period declared on 14th March 2022, NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for twelve weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all outstanding issues," the statement read. Over 90% of Undergraduate Programs at the University of Jos Have Received Full Accreditation.

The National Universities Commission has conferred Full Accreditation Status to almost ninety per cent (90%) of the University of Jos' undergraduate programs (NUC). This is an improvement over the 57.3 per cent of programs given Full Accreditation Status in the University before the NUC's most recent Accreditation Exercise in January of this year. Holding this milestone, the University of Jos is currently among Nigeria's top ten (10) federal universities in terms of the proportion of programs with full accreditation status, the greatest percentage the university has ever attained since the procedure was started in 1999 and 2000. Last January, the NUC performed an accreditation exercise at the University of Jos for forty (40) undergraduate programs and two (2) postgraduate programs, and the report of the accreditation exercise was just issued. This was revealed by the Minister in a recent interview with Punch News. According to Nwajiuba, UNIJOS notified him that ASUU had asked them to investigate his PhD qualification and revoke it following the investigation.
