ACCOUNTING OR ACCOUNTANCY

Accounting is a course present as a course in tertiary school institutions such as Universites, Polytechnics, and College of Education that students who did Business Studies in secondary school pursue after. It's a course that trains people who want to do Accountancy as a career. Accounting deals with the use of a system to record and analyze financial matters. The system is usually developed to meet up with current issues arising in regards to finances. The system is dedicated towards recording and analyzing financial transactions and status of available or registered individuals and businesses.

Accounting is under the faculty of Administration. Accounting in Nigerian tertiary school institutions requires Four - Five years of study to obtain a Bachelor Degree. 

Passed out senior secocondary school students should have basic knowledge about this through the career related subjects that were taught in secondary school - subjects such as Financial accounting, Economics, and other related subjects.

JAMB, NECO, And WAEC Logos

In order for students to be considered valid into the Nigerian university, they will need a good (SSCE)Senior School Certificate Examination(WAEC/NECO) result and (UTME)Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB) result. To get these results, one has to register for and write the examinations well for good marks and grades. The kind if results required are results that have at least credit(C's), if not Alphas(A's) passes in all registered compulsory and career related subjects. It's possible that a lot of students are not aware of required subjects for this particular course to register for the examinations.

UTME subjects for JAMB Examination are:

Use of English

Mathematics

Economics

Financial Accounting or any other Social Science subject.

In JAMB, there's a required score that is acceptable for any course a student may choose. In relation to this course, you should score up to 200 and above in JAMB. You need not worry as some Universities accept 180-200, some College of Education accept 100-180 and above, and some Polytechnics accept 120-180 as cut of mark from your jamb result.

Some Universities that accepts 200 as cut of marks are:

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE-IFE, OSUN STATE - 200,

UNIVERSITY OF UYO (UNIUYO) - 200,

UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS (UNILAG) - 200.

You could occupy the space of a/an:

CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT: This is considered as an expert in Accounting. Anyone in this position are in charge of organization records, taxes, and financial matters. They help their clients meet their financial goals.

GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTANT: As a professional in accounting, you can work with government. An accountant working with the government helps government to manage and spend taxes on necessary things. 

STAFF ACCOUNTANT: As a staff accountant, there are varieties of jobs to take care of in any concerned company employed to; Jobs such as: Management of Cash, management of company's accounts, maintainance payroll records etc.

FORENSIC ACCOUNTANT: A forensic accountant is a professional that has an attitude similar to that of investigators as they needed to uncover financial errors, omissions, and even detect fraudulent activities.

There are also: Auditing Accountants, Cost Accountant, Project Accountant, Investment Accountant.
